The team
The people behind HerVote100.
A committee of volunteers giving their time to the centenary — each carrying the story of a woman who fought for the vote.

Committee member
Becky Chantry-Parke
Fine artist · historical researcher · diorama maker · exhibitions · quantitative research · communications
I would like the centenary celebrations to identify all the unsung heroines that fought for the vote, and to encourage those women who don’t vote to do so in their memory.
Her favourite suffragette & suffragist
“Mary Ann Rawle, who was imprisoned 14 days in Holloway and wrote a prison diary, later moved to my hometown of Grantham and started the local branch of the NUWSS. Also Constance Maud and Lady Constance Lytton — both hunger strikers — for their sheer determination.”
Founder & Director
Cat Crossley
Illustrator & publisher, founder of feminist heritage brand Clavis & Claustra.

Copywriter
Connie Rout
I'm a heritage-focused freelance copywriter. If I'd been a suffragette, I'd probably have been penning placard slogans and writing noisy articles in women's journals...
As a committee member for HerVote100, I help write the words for the website, newsletters and socials. Placards TBC. I hope HerVote100 can remind people of the collective power we have to change the world for the better.
Her favourite suffragette
“I recently learnt about a suffragette, Lavena Saltonstall, who came from my little town. She was a similar age to me (but far braver) when she marched down to London and was imprisoned for six weeks in the name of women's suffrage. She's a reminder that ‘ordinary’ people can shape global history.”

Heritage and History Consultant
Dr. Jennie Kiff
I am a professional historian, archivist and heritage consultant. My University of Lincoln PhD (2025) explored suffragette networks in Bradford and across the West Riding of Yorkshire.
I run the Suffrage Sisters projects for HerVote100 and advise on a range of other projects. I want the centenary to celebrate women working together, their suffrage heritage and the opportunities still ahead.
Her favourite suffragette
“So many to choose from, but one of my favourites is Gladys Roberts. A Bradford lass who rose through the ranks of her local branch, then endured hunger strikes and numerous prison sentences and became a WSPU organiser in Nottingham. Her prison diary and postcards reveal her humility, vulnerability and determination to fight for the cause she believed in.”
Communications Consultant
Joanna Foat
Speaker and author of the Lumberjills series of books, and advocate for women's history.
Director
Sal Galligan
Communications & social value strategist focused on public engagement & social change. Part of GM4Women network convened by Helen Pankhurst.

Treasurer
Valerie Joy
I am paid to be a feminist, working for the Fawcett Society as a Business Support Officer.
Feminism is the world I live in every day, so I was excited to be involved in HerVote100. I want to see us making more women visible, shouting out about our collective history, celebrating the remarkable achievements of the suffragettes and suffragists, and leaving a legacy for those who come after us.
Her favourite suffragettes
“My favourite suffragettes are those mostly anonymous working-class women who had so much more to lose, had no safety net — and yet did it anyway!”
More of the team, with their stories, to follow.
